The administration at Haslett High School has decided to extend the school day by roughly 2-5 minutes each day. This  is an extension from the current dismissal time at 2:25.

This new measure is a strategy to reach the required number of school hours per year under Michigan law. Currently the law states that schools must have 180 total days of school. This translates to 4,320 hours. By adding minutes to the end of each day, the district will avoid having having to extend the school year into students’ summer recess for things like snow days and any other types of off-days.
