For many students, junior year means taking the ACT.   These will be held in Haslett for free on March 6 as part of  the Michigan Merit Exam being held March 6-8.  All tests after this will cost the student.

In addition to being the base of college acceptance, ACT scores also help students receive scholarships.

“Prepare in advance,” counselor Samantha Brunnschweiler said.  “Learn how to pace yourself.”  This is often hard for students she said.

ACT.org has many resources that are useful to students.  “I took practice ACTs,” senior Joseph Smith said.  “This really helped me with the reading portion.”  He also said that getting plenty of sleep and eating a good breakfast helped him on the ACT.

“Students can take the ACT as many times as they want,” Brunnschweiler said.  ”Colleges will always take the highest score.”
