Haslett Hign School students this November participated in National Novel Writing Month, more commonly known as NaNoWriMo.  Those participating in NaNoWriMo have one month, Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, to write a 50,000-word novel.  Those finishing a 50,000 word novel recieve prizes and a chance to have their novel published.

NaNoWriMo participants are able to choose the topic and genre of there novels.  “My friends are a big inspiration,” senior Maria Cummings said.  “They do and say very interesting things.”  Although Cummings was unable to complete 50,000 words this year, she did reach that goal two years ago.

“It’s just for fun,” Cummings said.  “It’s not for a grade so there is no pressure.”
